William served in the War of 1812 from Kentucky. William and Elizabeth had two other daughters. After his first wife Elizabeth, a cousin, died, he married again and had two or three more children. Although his second family moved with his son Peter James Nicholson and others to Iowa, William did not stay there. He returned to Washington County, Indiana, where he had relatives and died there. His second wife then returned to Iowa.
