b. 15 May 1795, Randolph County, North Carolina
d. 23 July 1871, Penn Township, Jefferson County, Iowa

Children with Elizabeth Frazier:

  • Susanna (1819–1897) married Thomas Hockett
  • James (1821–1898) married Katherine Shockley
  • Rachel (1823–1901) married Dillon Hoskins
  • Sarah (1824–1846) married Caleb Pickett
  • Gideon (1826–bef. 1835)
  • Archelaus Moorman (1828-1890) married Margaret Frakes
  • Thomas Frazier (1830-1895) married Ruth Hodson
  • David (1832-1916) married Amanda Talbert
  • Rebecca (1834-1881) married James F. Hodson

Travis immigrated to Washington Township, Randolph County, Indiana, possibly from Highland County, Ohio, about 1814. He emigrated in 1837 to Henry County, Iowa.

Although the family name was changed from Adcock to Emery by the Indiana General Assembly on 22 January 1835, the family has generally spelled the name Emry. Harriett Emry, a granddaughter, wrote in 1941 that the Adcock name was changed to Emry because the children were being teased at school about their name.

From Tucker’s History of Randolph County, Indiana: “The first settler in Washington Township may have been Travis Adcock…”
