Pat Clark enlisted in the American Expeditionary Forces in Detroit, Michigan in 1917. He was a tail gunner in the 147th and 139th Aero Squadrons in France. Returning home from the war, he enrolled at the University of Illinois, graduating in 1926 with a degree in Business and Railroad Management. He worked for General Motors Insurance Co. in several offices on the west coast. In 1948 he, his wife, and another couple purchased a hunting and fishing lodge in Boise National Forest, Valley County, Idaho.
