The family came to Center Township, Porter County, Indiana, from Geauga or Lake County, Ohio, in 1850. Before 1860 they had moved to Kankakee City, Kankakee County, Illinois. Then, after 1880, they moved back to Center Township, Porter County, Indiana, before moving on to Madison, Lake County, Ohio.
