Lester grew up in Indian Creek twp, Monroe Co., Indiana and in 1939 he purchased a farm and resided there until 1976 when he moved to Bloomington. His obituary names four brothers at the time of his death, Merle Moore, of Kentucky, Melvin Moore of Martinsville, Marvin of Richmond, and Otis C. Moore of Bloomington. The obituary also named four sisters who all lived in Bloomington, Sylvia Linthicum, Vada May, Mary Hardin and Erva Hoy and Lillian Quackenbush of Lyons.
