Children with Rebecca Jane Wade:

  • John Newton “Newt” (1858-1938) married Margaret “Maggie” Myrtle Morse
  • Mary “Molly” Rebecca (b. 1864)
  • Clara Josephine (1867-1868)
  • Thomas James (1869-1954)
  • Hannah Barbara (1871-1873)
  • Charles William “Willie” (1874-1877)

John James was with the 81st Regiment of Indiana Volunteers from August 1862 until November 1862, when they had to leave him behind because he was too ill to continue. He was discharged for disability in March 1863. It is not known when he moved to Iowa, but he was there in 1898 when he applied for his pension. Rebecca received a pension after John’s death.
