A Preface to the Database
Sometime during World War II, the Monroe County Public Library in Bloomington, Indiana, asked a member of each soldier’s family to come in and fill out a card giving information about the soldier and his military experience. The action was voluntary, and one could fill out as much or as little as desired. At a later, unspecified time, the information on the cards was transcribed, and copy of that transcription is available in the Monroe County History Center where it was recently discovered.
This index was created from the transcription. It includes only the name of the soldier, the year of his birth (if that information was provided) and a page number .
