Database Description

Graduates of Arsenal Technical High School,
Indianapolis, 1915-1925
Compiled by Ron Darrah
During the American Civil War, the United States Government
established a Federal Arsenal in Indianapolis to supply munitions to the
Union Army.
The Arsenal continued in service into the early 20th century, but
then was considered surplus. The property, consisting of several acres of
ground and a number of buildings, was donated to the Indianapolis Public
Schools.
The school district established Arsenal Technical High School at the
site, and the first class graduated in 1915. The enclosed database was
compiled from school yearbooks and commencement programs and includes the
first 3,900 graduates of the school.
Arsenal Technical High School still operates at 1500 E. Michigan
Street in Indianapolis. Further information and many photographs,
yearbooks, and school newspapers are located in the school library and
office. Student records may be found in the school office or at the school
district headquarters at 120 E. Walnut Street, Indianapolis.
