Faculty and Graduates of Thorntown Academy,

The attached databases were extracted from the "Thorntown Centurial," a book created to celebrate the centennial of Thorntown, Indiana, in 1930. Parts of the book were reprinted for the Thorntown Sesquicentennial in 1980.
The Thorntown Academy was an academic school, chartered by and the property of, the Methodist Episcopal Church. From the book description it may have been both a high school and a college, as male graduates received a degree as Bachelor of Science and females as Mistress of English Literature.
Due to the Civil War there were no graduates in 1863 and 1864, and later for 1867.
After the 1868 graduation, the school closed and the building was sold to the public schools.
This copy of the Sesquicentennial was donated to the Allen County Public Library, which already has a copy of the 1930 Centurial. The Indiana State Library does have a copy of the 1980 book if you want to take a look.
