LaGrange county

Historical Overview

LaGrange County was formed from Allen and Elkhart counties in 1832. It was named for the home of Revolutionary War hero Marquis de la Fayette, Chateau de la Grange-Bleneau. Its population in 2020 was 40,446 and is home to a large Amish population. LaGrange is the county seat.
