The county seat, Marion, hosts a population of 28,000 and was named after General Francis Marion. Birth and death records begin in 1882 and are housed at the Health Department in the County Annex.
Census: all available except 1890. The Indiana Room at Marion Public Library has microfilm of birth and death records from 1882 to 1980, marriage records from 1831 to 2012, and some court records.
