Historical Overview

Crawford county was formed from Harrison, Orange and Perry counties in 1818. Crawford was named for William H. Crawford who was Treasury Secretary and Secretary of War in they early 19th century or for Col. William Crawford who was land agent for George Washington. Population in 2020 was 10,526. English serves as the county seat.
