Clinton county

Historical Overview

Clinton county was formed in 1830 from Tippecanoe county and named in honor of DeWitt Clinton, the seventh governor of New York State who was the architect of the Erie Canal. Population in the 2020 census was 33,190. Frankfurt was named the county seat in 1830.
