Become an Indiana County Genealogist

Genealogists helping genealogists

The Indiana Genealogical Society carefully selects and appoints knowledgeable individuals to serve as Indiana County Genealogists (ICGs) for each of Indiana’s 92 counties. These dedicated genealogists play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the IGS District Director, who represents their respective area, and the local societies and individuals within their county.

As Indiana County Genealogists, these individuals serve as valuable resources, providing guidance, assistance, and support to local genealogical societies and researchers. They facilitate communication, coordinate activities, and promote collaboration among those interested in genealogy within their county. Additionally, they may organize and lead educational programs, workshops, and events to further the study and preservation of local history and genealogical records.

In essence, Indiana County Genealogists are vital conduits of information and support, fostering a strong network of genealogical enthusiasts and preserving Indiana’s rich heritage for future generations.
