About Us
Our Roots are Indiana
Established in 1989, the Indiana Genealogical Society is dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of materials concerning the early settlers of the state. At the forefront of initiatives to enhance public access to Indiana’s historical records, IGS actively indexes and digitizes these valuable resources. Members enjoy exclusive access to our expanding database collection, which currently comprises over one million entries spanning all 92 Indiana counties, with new additions introduced frequently.
Additionally, IGS members benefit from electronic delivery of our informative publications, namely the IGS Newsletter and the Indiana Genealogist. The IGS Newsletter provides statewide news updates, while the Indiana Genealogist offers record abstracts and insightful articles tailored to those engaged in Indiana genealogy research. Join us on this journey of discovery as we continue to expand access to Indiana’s rich genealogical heritage.
