Elizabeth’s parents emigrated from Scotland in 1851. Her mother, father, and two siblings appear on the manifest for the ship “Elizabeth”, arriving at the port of New York on 13 Nov 1851.

The manifest indicates the family’s name last name as “Malcolm”.

The 1860 and 1870 Federal census indicates the family’s last name as “Malcomb”.

Elizabeth Malcolm Rice’s 1870 census entry shows “Malcolm”, however, her marriage license states “Malcomb”.

Her parents’ 1880 census entry indicates “Malcolm”.

Family naming of several descendants seemed to settle on “Malcolm”.

Elizabeth’s daughter Lucie Rice indicated that her mother’s brothers and sisters were named Ann, Alexander, Seth, and Mary J.

The 1860 Federal census shows another brother, Robert, age 5, but no further information has been found for him.

Elizabeth Malcolm Rice was a school teach by vocation.

Other family lineage is at Find A Grave, Memorial #78733972
