The family lived in Perry Township, Lawrence County, Indiana, and in Putnam County, Indiana, before leaving the state in 1833. In 1824, they sold land west of Cloverdale for the Mt. Zion Methodist Episcopal Church. It was in 1831 that a patent was issued to them for the land that is now the Meadows Golf Course near Cloverdale, Indiana.
