Sarah Ellen Etter
b. 25 September 1856, McDonough County, Illinois, to Martin Luther and Lourena (Long) Etta
d. 30 January 1921, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota

Children with Sarah Ellen Etter:

  • William Ernest (1874-1952) married Kristine Larson
  • Samuel (1876-1916) married Martha Simon
  • Carrie (1878-1973) married Al Wurgler
  • Henry (1883-1971) married Jessie Dungan
  • LaPearl (1885-1909)

John migrated to Brown County, Minnesota, in the late 1860’s but there is no evidence that his parents ever left Indiana.

John and Sarah had a double wedding ceremony with Sarah’s twin sister Martha Ann, who married Alford Keech. In 1880 John and Sarah were living in Blue Earth County, Minnesota, in a household headed by Alford Keech. Later they moved to Madelia, Minnesota, where John manufactured brooms from corn that he raised. John, who was known as quite a machinist, manufactured window stops and a door check in 1889. Subsequently he worked in several different machine shops. By 1900 John and Sarah were divorced.
