Ray Cemetery is in Monroe Township, 1 1/2 miles west of Monroe. The land was deeded by William George and Rebecca Andrews Ray from their farm. The earliest settlers of the south part of Washington Township, the town of Monroe, and the surrounding area are buried here, including many of the descendants of Revolutionary War soldiers. It is a Protestant cemetery, but there was no church here - Otho Lobenstein, a Monroe undertaker, kept the records. Sylvan Sprunger was the Township Trustee. The cemetery has been enlarged.
